Regrettably, there is nothing to look forward to in our culture of hyperconsumption. As the marketing and advertising agencies grab hold on what is the consumer’s primal desire to show off to society, they have created this culture of “more is better”. Consumers are falling for this ploy buying more products that are mostly identical. As the bottom lines of companies grow and grow, the creativity of the consumer diminishes. We are being herded into the field of conformity as each year passes.

The dreary landscape of our consumer culture has led to increasing political apathy. Consumers are becoming more aware (whether consciously or not) that corporations control government. After Reagan’s years of greed, our political landscape has evolved more into a meritocracy (or perhaps an oligarchy). The poor masses don’t control the policies that affect them. Rather, the rich and the privileged get to make these decisions. As each year turns bleaker for the impoverished, voter participation decreases among them (see statistics comparing voter turnout for the richest 1% compared to the poorest 20%).

Something that might be in a zine I’m starting to do. I’m unsure as to the title of it, but I’m starting to do something with my presently useless mind.

The post-Thanksgiving chill has hit. It’s my favorite time of the year since we get to bundle up. I prefer this much more to the sweating let’s-take-our-clothes-off feel of summer.

A couple of things on my shopping list:
A new computer
A digital camera
More makeup
If a nice sugardaddy can buy me some of these things, email me. Tee hee

I lost myself along the way for a couple of weeks. I had no idea where to go or what rooms to check out. So here I am, still lost but with more direction. I’m working on a manuscript (which is mainly poetry). I’m writing music again. The rriottqueerrr movement WILL happen dammit!

That’s all until next time!

Ahhh…. The joys of Thanksgiving. The insults did come a-hurlin’ and the booze was quite plentiful. I didn’t suffer any emotional damages (nor did anyone else on my behalf), so I guess it turned out all right. And just think, there are 3 more days of no work!!!!!!!!

Anyhow, I did major cleaning while listening to KXLU today. Vacuuming and indie rawk never sounded any better in its coexistance.

I think I’m out of here right now. Peace!

I have always loved Thanksgiving. It’s a time when families come together and get things out in the open. As each bite of turkey goes down everyone’s gullet, the dementia starts to set in. Everyone starts talking and taking a stab at each other. At least, that’s the way it is with my family.

True, it should be a time when we are thankful for things, but for my family, the ability to yell and insult each other is the way we give thanks (ie we are thankful that we CAN insult each other). We have never been the family to make a spectacle of graciousness. If we have something to say, dammit we’re going to say it. (The surprising thing about all of this is that we are not drunk when this happens.)

I don’t know what happens at Christmas time because then this false facade of happiness rears its ugly head. I can swear it’s those fucking presents. Nevertheless, Christmas is always a letdown because there are no insults. It’s tamer than a fucking baby.

So I’m looking forward to Thursday. Let the games begin!

I went on a spending spree last weekend and ended up buying bunches of CDs.

The Screws – “Shake the Money”
The Locust – s/t
Jawbox – I forget the title, but it’s the old one with “Tongues” on it.
Joy Division – “heartandsoul” boxed set
V/A – “Plea for Peace…” Comp.
Babes in Toyland – “Minneapolism”

And yesterday I bought the new Radiohead live CD. I have funny music to entertain me now.

Payday is tomorrow, so I will be lurking for more CDs. I want to get the new Lightning Strikes CD. They sound like fun. And I need books. Books are good. Books are my friend.

I also haven’t been to a show in ages. Must pick up LA Weekly tomorrow.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve LJed. So here I am. I’ve been to shows, seen stars and been quite a bum. All the while I’m going to work stressing the fuck out and ready to call everything quits.

It’s getting cold in LA (or as cold as it gets here). I’m always irritable, and I need to get laid.

So it’s been a while since I’ve had the chutzpah and time to get online. This is more of a courtesy post for y’all who even care about my breathing abilities.

Time just ticks on and on now. I don’t have anything prepared for this weekend. I’ll just wing it this weekend and try to come up with something. If all else fails, I could always go to Santa Monica. Humph.

So I’m back doing accounts payable in this company, and I’m realizing why I was always so stressed out back in SB. As always, I’ve inherited a mess, so it’s just loads of fun. Grr….

Nothing much on any fronts yet. I should really see about getting tix to X for this weekend. That should be a good show. Other than that, I don’t really have much of anything planned.

Poopy.
