Ok kiddos. I’ve not been posting lately. This is mostly a test to see how long I can go without posting. From what it looks like, four days. Pfft.

Some people really do need to get out more often. While waiting for the Matrix to start, someone brought a beachball and everyone started throwing it around the theater. There’s a time and place for everything. At a graduation or sporting event. Sure. No problem. In a movie theater? C’mon now. I counted 3 sodas spilled and two 40-somethings (sitting next to me) trying to relive their youth. Too bad the ball never landed near me. My keys were ready to extinguish the fun. Whatever.
I went to Melrose today and didn’t find anything. ugh
Art and Shopping!
Today I went to the North Hollywood Theater & Arts festival with Madd. Going there reminded me of why I never go to that area: the traffic. I hate the 405, I hate the 101, I hate Highland Blvd., I hate Laurel Canyon, I just hate it I tells ya. Anyhow, the festival was really nice. I bought one of those 7-day candles that Catholics go ape-shit over with a painting of Elvis mooning the viewer. It’s quite funny. For $5 you can’t go wrong.
Then a horrendous insanity streak came over me. We went to the Santa Monica Promenade and I bought a lovely dress shirt at Banana Republic. Not bad so far. Then we went to Old Navy. I actually purchased something. It was only 3 tees (for $18!), but still, I bought something at that place. Ugh.
BTW, I really enjoyed Matrix II.
Eh
I guess I was really tired today. I took a two hour nap. I’m still groggy and disoriented, but what the hey. For some reason it put me in the mood to make a mix-CD so I started to download music. Then that inspired me to update my amazon.com wishlist. I don’t know.
I wonder if the phenomenon of flying flags on car windows is just an LA thing or a nationwide phenomenon. I saw one of those fuckers on the road on my way home from work today. I ran it over, but it took all I had to not back up and run it over repeatedly.
TIme to sleep. G’night.
Rant Rant Rant
I’m reading the stories on
Also what the fuck is up with Vijay Singh? I’ve seen commentators saying, “well he’s entitled to his opinion.” Um that’s not really an opinion. “I hope she misses the cut. Why? Because she doesn’t belong out here.” I’m sure some white man is laughing to himself seeing a towel-head slagging a Swedish bitch. But of course this is a lovely moment for the media to latch onto this “divisive” issue and garner ratings for this second-rate event/sport.
This makes me realize that I made a mistake in 2000: I really should’ve put together an army and forcefully taken control as emperor of Amerika. Trust me. The military wouldn’t have gone into Iraq. Just as I’ve said previously, they would’ve done a a greater deed: revoke Jennifer Lopez’s and Madonna’s SAG card. They really don’t need to act anymore.
Ok. One More Post…. Really.
I was overjoyed when I saw this email in my inbox today:
Dear Everyone,
The Midnight Special Bookstore has found a new place! It’s at 1450 2nd Street in Santa Monica, not far from the old store.
We are planning a grand opening season with great events to invite you back; and we are thinking of trying some new things, so you’ll have to come help us work them out. For those of you who can, we will need help with the move. I’ll write again with details, as soon as we have an opening date.
I believe these are very dangerous times to be without every possible avenue of real information; it has been hard not being able to be there when we are needed. It has been even harder not being a part of the most exciting peace movement our world has ever seen. We look forward to re-joining you all!
Thank you for the phone calls, thank you for the letters, thank you for the e-mail, thank you for leaving notes on the old storefront, thank you for the words of support on our website. Thank you for reminding us that the Midnight Special is still here. WE’LL SEE YOU SOON.
A VERY special event is happening on Sunday May 18, at 2 PM. Adriennne Rich will do a benefit reading at Tia Chucha Cafe Cultural a new (maybe a year old) bookstore in San Fernando. For those of you who know Adrienne Rich…enough said. But…for those of you who have never read or heard her, she is one of those voices that sets the lies straight…and with great beauty.
For all of us it is always a time to celebrate when an independent bookstore opens and flourishes.. Tia Chucha is a one of a kind store and cultural center. Go hear Adrienne Rich; support this great bookstore and give yourself a wonderful afternoon. CALL: 818.362.7060 or log onto tiachucha.com for details.
Looking forward to hearing from you and having you back in our store.

So pretty soon I can once again spend my entire paycheck on books! Woo!
Ugh
I am utterly addicted to Bookworm. I got to master wordsmith level or something or rather. I don’t know why I’m so hooked. I guess it beats playing Scabble solo. I just wish they used the same scoring tiles as Scrabble did. But I guess you can’t always get what you want.
Well today was a frustrating day at work. What with our former customs broker taking us to collection, Amerikan Express losing a form I had faxed them on the First, people generally pissing me the hell off, and going up and down those bloody stairs all fucking day long… Ugh. I’m just about had. Perhaps that’s why I can only play Bookworm. Heh.
I am listening to mcgee doing a set on KSPC. I like what I hear so far. You go!
Um… that’s enough.
Addendum To My Last Post
I just wrote a nice little ditty that I have to do a once-over. It’s about straight boy tongues. I know monkmonk and I had a oh so brief discussion about this in regards to Rufus Wainwright. I started thinking about it, and well… I’ll post it when it’s ready.
And since it’s NBA finals again, I’m feeling the whole hetero thing again. I wrote a stupid essay about it a year ago, but I think I’ll resurrect it and make it pretty. *shrugs*
SB Night
Last night urbanemonkey forced be to go up to Santa Barbara. Actually, we had made plans earlier, but I couldn’t find a place to sleep. I backed out on Thursday, but then she convinced me again that night. So I made the 110-mile trek to my former abode in relatively light traffic with Urbanemonkey’s roommate C_ right after work.
