I’ve been feeling really contemplative today. I’m just curious as to what I will be doing in the next 5 years. Will I be finishing my undergrad studies? Will I still be at the same job doing the same thing for the same people?
Last November after election day, I decided I was going to run for Congress in 2004. My congresswoman does not represent me nor most of the longshore workers who live in the district (I live in San Pedro/LA Harbor area). However, I have effectively put that on hold. I do want to get my English degree first before I embark on something of that magnitude. Anyhow, I don’t think it is feasible to even embark on such a campaign to oust a five-term congresswoman.
I don’t know. I tend to get really comfortable in a situation until something explodes. As much as I hate to admit it, I do not like change in the larger sense of things. I have to force myself to be more open about things. So… here’s a list of goals:
Yes a short list. I’ll probably need help deciding on #1. The other two, I just have to bite my tongue and do it.
On a lighter note, who wants to escort me on Wednesday to the Knitting Factory to see mcgee‘s band and others play? (who am i fucking kidding? this will be another take-myself-on-a-date night)
So the celebration of urbanemonkey‘s birthday came to an end tonight, and yet again I left her present here at home. I’m such a dumbass sometimes. I met dingo727‘s girlfriend loveandpeace42 who is a fake Korean. I don’t see how any Korean can not like kimchee. That is worse than a person from the South who doesn’t like cornbread. A damn shame is what it is. Regardless, she’s pretty keen. They will be sitting next to me and Madd at the Tchaikovsky Fireworks Spectacular, so it should be uber-cool.
I spoke at length with urbanemonkey‘s mom about the Amerikan Southwest. We were both in agreement that it is perhaps the most beautiful and magical place in the world. I driven through there several times and have just been entranced. I am now motivated to go on a roadtrip through there sometime in the fall. Perhaps I’ll stop through Denver and see some peeps there? Hmmm…..
Next weekend will be spent doing some more clothes shopping. It’ll give me a nice chance to just hang out with my aunt from Dallas, even if she tends towards the egomaniacal. I’m an Aries so I can completely identify.
Oooooh! A new Kraftwerk album is coming out 7/22. I’m jumping up and down in electronic anxiety for this one.
That’s it. I haven’t had coffee yet. I haven’t bathed yet. I’m ikky and I’m going to go insane. Ugh.
I’ve been forgetting to mention this all week long, but I’ve been compulsively watching The Power of Salad, Lightning Bolt’s tour DVD. I love their music/noise and watching the reactions from the fans is great. Some of them are really scary. Like…

Anyhow, Part II of urbanemonkey‘s bday complete. We went to Cheesecake Factory and drank. Actually I had water all night since I’m not quite through detoxing from SB last weekend. Quite fun with Kaui assaulting my nipples minimally. There’s a BBQ tomorrow, so those interested should come.

My aunt from Dallas is here. It’s funny since I don’t believe that Texas exists. I refuse to accept it into my reality (although it is a reality on a precipice). It’s absolutely amazing to hear, “You are an American, what are you complaining for?” spoken to me over and over again. My response: “Fuck off capitalist pig, remember yr Korean roots.” That works pretty effectively. But I have gotten here hooked to Fischerspooner, so I guess it’s a start. Yeah. She’ll be the only 42-year old in her fictional land listening to shit like that. Mwahahahhaha!
That’s it. Tomorrow and Saturday will be spent celebrating urbanemonkey‘s existence. Woo hoo!

Kaito Friday night. !!! and Wire/Melt Banana on Saturday, Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players/The Centimeters and Mae Shi/Thermals/All-Girl Summer Fun Band/Child Pornography/Fireworks/Boyjazz on Wednesday. Um. So much to choose from, and it’s a shame I will have to miss the Friday and Saturday night shows. Fortunately, I’ve seen Kaito twice and Melt Banana once, so I don’t feel too bad. But I do wanna finally see the wonderousness that is Mae Shi (and I’m not just saying this since mcgee is one of my LJ friends). Mmmph. Yeah!
