I parked my car down the street coming home from the coffeeshop. On the radio, KPFK was playing an speech by Gore Vidal recorded in 1981. I stay in my car to listen for another couple of minutes when all of the sudden I hear water dripping on my car. My first thought was that the sprinklers in the condo complex started going off. Then I realize that this water is actually rain.
I run up the hill to my apartment and the rain slows. Just as I get comfortable pace going, it starts pouring even harder. My question I pose now is: what the fuck is going on? Why is it raining in Southern California right in the middle of the summer? Ok, so that’s two questions. Still. What the fucking fuck?!
That’s it. I’m reading A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn. It’s a great and lovely read. Eye opening to say the least. I know I try to keep up on some sort of truth behind the lies they tell us in school, but some of this stuff is outright revealatory.
Ug. Auditors again. My back is killing me. Whatever. It’s all good since I got my vacation request approved. I will be taking half a day off on 8/7 and come back to work on 8/13. Besides the wedding on 8/8, does anyone wanna do anything?
New desktop in the current section. That’s about it.
I’m still feeling the antipathy of being the anti-fag, but at least tonight I get a visual light show from Mother Nature to accompany it. How this all relates, I’m not completely sure but whatever.
Here’s a link about French hatin’.
Bill Hicks is perfect for long car trips.
Yesterday, I went to Pine Flat for urbanemonkey‘s mom’s birthday. It was quite a drive and made me quite confident in my car. If I can go up the Grapevine at 100mph with no effort, I say my car is fairly reliable.
That’s about it. Moop.
This week was just that sort of week. *sigh* Next week I’ll be taking a couple of mental health days. Pfft./
Going to the 3rd Street Promenade last night was a bit surreal. My real reason to go was to see the progress of Midnight Special in their move. Unfortunately, it still looks like there needs to be more work done.
Anyhow, crossing the street on Arizona, you see the huge memorial filled with candles, flowers and a public card where people can write down their thoughts. It’s quite a somber scene (rightly so) that you can feel throughout the Promenade. Perhaps going there the first time since that gnarly accident had something to do with it.
I really wanna vegetate this weekend, but I can’t. *sigh*
All I have to say is fuck Bush and his junta. I think this is absolutely deplorable. When Al-Jazeera broadcasted images of POWs being interrogated, Bush was the first person to cry Geneva Convention. So what the fuck is this shit all about?
Ok. So these boys were bad, evil, mailicious, whatever. So was Hitler, but we didn’t publicize his burnt corpse. Fuck this machismo shit. This is just like a high school locker room on a bigger level. Fuck this shit. I don’t want to be associated with any part of this. Fuck Bush. Fuck Cheney. Fuck Rummy. Fuck Colon. Fuck Condie. Fuck them all.
Over the past couple years, I have been debating whether to run for political office. Although it’s a little late now, I have been mulling about running for Congress in 2004 to oust my pro-business Democratic representative Jane Harman. Because of the relative costs of running a campaign and relative impossibility of winning, I have decided not to run in 2004.
However, something has come up. As most of you know by now, the Secretary of the State of California just certified that there were enough valid signatures to hold a recall election of Governor Gray Davis. I have been staunchly opposed to this move and contend we in the state of California have been through worse financially (see Pete Wilson and Ronald Reagan). But since it looks like it is happenning, I see an opportunity to get a stronger leader in Sacramento.
This is why I am formally announcing my campaign to be the next Governor of California. It is still not official; I still have to get signatures and fill out my intent to run. But friends, let me assure you my name will be on the ballot for the recall election.
In the next few days, I will release my campaign platform for all to see. It is time we stand up for peace and equality for all, not just for the rich. I hope to get enough of your support in the coming weeks and months.
