Bah! Fuck it. My ass couldn’t find the Smell. I went to the old location, yet nothing was there. Sorry klikitak. 🙁 I guess this is among the perils of going to shows alone. Garg.
Oh the upside, I got the new Margaret Cho album. Fuuuuunny!

Uy. The A/C broke again, so here I am sweating to the oldies. Help me please!
Anyhow, I’m going to go see klikitak‘s band The Manifolds tonight at The Smell. It should be a fun show, especially since I finally get to see Year Future play. I’ve heard good things about them, so I am stoked.
My head hurts now so I think I’m going to go over there —>.
The air conditioning here at work is still broken. Fortunately it’s cool outside so it’s not that bad in here. But I give it another hour before it gets unbearably hot. It’s great since we have no windows in our department and no way of getting any air into the office. *sighs* I have a meeting with IT at 2 this afternoon, so at least I get a reprieve for a little while. I can’t remember the last time I was excited to be in a meeting.
Anyhow, my car insurance is due next month. Ugh.
It looks like the people around town are supportive of the strikers and locked out supermarket employees. All of the parking lots are virtually empty (with the odd car marked in support of the strike). I needed groceries, so I went to Trader Joes as usual. Damn was that place packed. The bread and meat were completely ransacked. The frozen veggies were on the verge of being gone. Amazingly all of the employees there were in great moods helping the newcomers to find their way around the store. And the customers were surprisingly compassionate upon learning their necessary pine nuts/pasta/meat/etc. was out of stock. Just had to post this. 🙂
The Lightning Bolt show was great last night. It’s rare that I enjoy every band that played, but it happened! I was most impressed with Noxagt, a violin-bass-drums trio who really rocked the house. Aside from LB, they got everyone’s head shaking.
It wasn’t all fun and games though. I got to the Echo at around 8:30 to find the line went all the way near the end of the block. It took me about an hour to get into the venue. This is the part about going to shows alone I absolutely hate. The tedium and boredom from waiting around is unbearable. Perhaps this is why I don’t go to many shows anymore. Sidenote: once I got in, the line snaked down and around the block. Wow.
After all of this, I’m surprised I’m not more tired than I am. It feels like a regular day for me which is neither good nor bad. Just blah. I’m going to chop off all of my hair today. I’m sick and tired of it. I was >< close to just taking a pair of scissors to it last night. Ugh.
If I was President, I would abolish them. Mondays would be half-work days so us working people can adjust ourselves to the work week. Speaking of working people, the supermarket employees are on strike here in Southern California. I know the backlash is going to be awful, but good for them for sticking to their ideals. It’s a shame that health care and living wages are considered luxury items here in the States. I got into a nice discussion with my mom about this last night, and we concluded the only way things could change is if there were a revolution overthrowing our greedy capitalist ways. I can’t believe I got my mom to say that especially since she is a money-grubber at heart. 🙂
Anyone want to get dinner tonight before the Lightning Bolt show?
It looks like my lactose intolerance is getting better. I had some of urbanemonkey‘s home-made mac and cheese sans Lactaid pill. The last time this happened I was doubled over in pain and turned her bathroom into a biohazard. Last night, absolutely nothing happened! I’m so happy.
I’m so stoked to go see Lightning Bolt tomorrow. I haven’t seen a whole lot of shows this year, so it will be great to see a band live. That’s it. Aside from mac and cheese last night, there was not a whole lot of activity. Finé.
My butt is shaking especially since I’ve been listening to the new OutKast album for the last couple of days nonstop. Actually that’s a lie. I’m listening to Pussy Galore right now. Cuz you’re nothing but a cuntease. FUCK YOU! Heh.
I have no plans this weekend so if someone wants to amuse me, go right ahead. 🙂
I was finally going to close the books for September this morning when, to my dismay, our accounting system was down. Until 10am, there was no work to be done. Well the delay normally wouldn’t be that bad, but of course I had several hot-button issues explode within that time. So here I am now typing away refusing to deal with the reality of the position I’m in. Ugh.
I just took a look at LA Weekly’s list-o-shows and I’m kicking myself in the ass for being poor this week. Not only is there Lightning Bolt on Monday, but there’s Ladytron on Friday and Blood Bros on Saturday. Not to mention Shonen Knife, Books on Tape, Manifolds, Quasi and others. Like I said, AAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
