RIP
RIP Jhonn Balance. For those of you who don’t know, he was one of the founding members of Coil. One of the most influential 80s bands, they molded industrial music.
He will be missed.

I tried my hand in fame and brilliance last Thursday and failed.
As most of you know, I went to try out for Jeopardy! last Thursday. I’ve been wanting to do this for years, but just recently got the motivation to sign up. Actually I was on the phone with Madd several months ago, and she told me to get off of my ass and just do it. So as we were talking I went online and filled out the application. It took 5 minutes. Easy, schmeasy.
I’m not one for high hopes, and this case wasn’t any different. I figured what I don’t know won’t hurt me too much, so my attitude was fuck-it. At worst it would give me an excuse to take the day off.
I go to Sony Picture Studios in Culver City (right by where urbanemonkey and my_bootay used to live) and get herded in the Visitor Center in the parking lot. There were about 30 well-dressed people sitting and standing staring out into space. I tried to talk to several of them but quickly found they were really boring. Although this one boy (27) who drove out from Chicago to try out was pretty cute and interesting. I did invite him to my party, but he didn’t show up. Le sigh.
Finally the show’s casting director came and escorted us to the sound stage where they actually film the show. We sit in the audience and take the test, a 50-question written test. The question is projected onto a screen and read to us. We had eight seconds to write down the answer. They asked everything from pop culture to literature to geography. Everything!
They collected the tests, graded them and told us which of us made the cut. I didn’t make it. As we were being escorted out, I asked the producer what score I got. He showed me my test with a big “43” written on it. The cut is at 45. So no Jeopardy! for me. For now at least.
It was a fun experience, and I’ll probably try out for it again next year. What do I have to lose, right?
Anyhow, my party Saturday night was a blast. I will post some pictures either tonight or tomorrow. And right now I’m really hyper for some reason. Monday morning and I’m energetic. How weird.
Here’s a picture from Halloween night taken by my roomie.

Tonight’s the party. I’ve been stressing out all day and been running around nonstop since 8am. It should get very interesting.
Ok. Sorry everyone for the lack of updates. It’s been very hectic for me lately.

Directions:
-Take 110 N
-Left exit to 5 N

There is plenty of parking on Los Feliz Blvd. It’s a fairly safe neighborhood.
The party will begin at around 9. Come hungry. We will definitely be serving a roasted turkey and a pork roast. We might have a lamb roast, but we’re not entirely sure yet. If you want a particular type of alcohol, you might want to bring it yourself. We will be providing the basics (rum, vodka and gin). And the theme is Reign of Terror: 2004 Style. So be revolutionary!!!!
That’s it. I’ll make a better post later today.
Right now, lotusblossom, saltyseas and I are blogging while sitting next to each other and tipsy. I feel worse than a person at a LAN party right now. Ugh. More tampico + vodka now!!!!!!!
And FUCK YOU CATHI AND TYSON!!!!!!!!
Tampico + vodka = the shit!!!!! It helps that I made my drinks pretty strong. This is to make up for my night last night.
– Came home.
– Took a nap at 6pm so I could be energetic all night.
– Woke up at 8pm to change channels on the tv.
– Went back to sleep.
– Woke up at 2am to turn off tv, change into jammies.
– Went back to sleep.
– Woke up at 9am.
15 hours of sleep. Hot!!!!!
So far today, I’ve ventured outside once, got scared and went back home. Got some great chicken @ Dino’s. And now I’m pretty buzzed. And it ain’t even 9.
Remember, house-warming party this time next week. Let me know if y’all are going to come. Motherfuckas!!!! Hehehhehe.
One of the greatest things I like about where I live now is how it’s centrally located. For instance last night, feralboy wanted to get dinner in Chinatown. A couple of months ago when I lived in San Pedro, it would have involved a half-hour drive to meet up with feralboy, then another 15 or so minutes to get to Chinatown. Now he just stops by my place and it takes us about 10 minutes to get there.
This makes sitting through a 60-90 minute commute coming home from work worth it. Yeah sometimes it drives me crazy. But I just love where I live. I know I keep going on and on about my new place, but it’s seriously kicks ass. Really.
Oh and remember, the day is coming soon.
Yes I did go through with it and did not vote for a president. I know in some people’s eyes that makes me a scapegoat. However what good will it ultimately do to vote for Kerry?
It will just cover up the imcompetency of the Democrats. Their system is in dire need of fixing, and I thought it would have been dealt with by now. I mean after 2000, what more of a sign did they need? I’m just hoping that this defeat will send the message loud and clear: IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, YOU WILL NEVER WIN.
I understand we do have to go through four more years of Bush and his policies. I’m speaking from a position of privelege, but being in the state of California we have ways of undoing his fuck ups. That’s why voting locally is especially crucial. I make it a point to vote in every election since the person on the school board, the city councilperson, etc. are the people who directly affect the way I live.
So I urge people just to use this like an enema. Just breathe, think and mobilize. Yes we’re going to have to fight. But without that, there is no way this country is going to grow. I seriously believe this.
In the end, I’m just really disappointed. I’m disappointed that people would actually vote for thieves and criminals like Bush and Cheney. Most of all I’m disappointed in the Democrats.
Edit: Chew on this.
– Anti Bush graffiti in Hollywood.
– Empty stat of the day. Kerry also got more votes than any previously elected president. Chew on that.
Last night, I fell asleep while watching the football game at around 8. I got up briefly at 11, changed into my jammies, gave my roommate my rent check and promptly went back to sleep. I haven’t had a such a refreshing sleep in months. Now I’m completely energetic and ready to conquer the world. So beware if this (s)election becomes a stalemate. I will gather together an army and declare myself emperor of America. This time around I’m more patient and persistent. Mwahahahahahahahahahah!
Some links about this (s)election day:
– Voting is becoming a pain in the ass. (courtesy of Boing Boing.net)
– According to the Redskins rule Kerry will win. (courtesy of ABC News) For those of you who don’t know, if the Redskins win their home game preceding election day, the incumbent will win. If they lose, the incumbent loses. This has held fast since 1936.
Ok. That’s it.
Tomorrow’s (s)election has me in a fit. People around me are getting mobilized to oust Bush. While I’m a big supporter of that, is replacing him with Kerry going to be much better? Either way I look at it, we will be fucked.
Since I’m very confident that California is going to go to Kerry, I’m not going to vote for the electors for president. If I were living in Missouri, I would vote for Kerry in a blink with a heavy heavy heart. Anyhow there are other issues at stake here in the state (i.e. forcing employers of 250 or more to provide health insurance to their employees) that deserve more attention than the circus show.
Speaking of circuses, I believe I will spend tomorrow evening getting hammered with lotusblossom and co. while watching (s)election returns. That should be fabulous (even though I predict that she will fall asleep by 9:30).
Another prediction: whoever wins Ohio wins the (s)election. At about 5 pm PST in 2000, I was telling some friends that whoever won Florida would win the (s)election. Little did I know how telling that statement would be. Actually it ended up being false, since the winner of Florida (Gore) lost the (s)election.
That’s it. I’m just about ready to go home. The work on my desk is slowly starting to go down. At least something’s going down in my life. Hardee har.
