Feh. It’s looking craptacular. It started raining again so it seems like my party will be a stupid get-together. lotusblossom and saltyseas will definitely be here. I don’t know if cherryserious will come. my_bootay and vanillaspice probably won’t make it because of the rain. Other people I invited already had plans. Bleah. It’s really making the motivation to clean this place up really difficult.

Shit. Maybe I’ll just go out and face the masses of people tonight. Hmph. Who am I kidding?

Oh my lordee, what a day. Over the last 24 hours:
– I went on a job interview in Burbank (even though I have a temp-perm job lined up for the beginning of the year). I pretty much botched it.
– Went to dinner with lotusblossom and saltyseas.
– After dinner, we made an impromptu decision to go to Vegas.
– Got to Vegas and inquired about rooms. Because of New Years, everything was booked. We said fuck it and went gambling.
– Lost $200 @ blackjack. Fortunately I had $300 to gamble, so I didn’t lose everything.
– Went back to the car @ 6:30 am to nap.
– Woke up at 9 am and went to Bellagio’s buffet.
– Recouped $20 at the slots.
– Left Vegas @ 1 pm.
– Got a phone call on the drive saying I got the job I interviewed for yesterday.
– Accepted it, and I start on 1/4.
– Endured the torrential downpour and lightning storm. People were driving really sane for once.
– Got home.

So I go away for a night, and LA washes away in a flood. Hmph.

Ok. I think I have a couple of moments to collect myself and post like a normal blogger (whatever that entails).

Well my last day of work was today. I can’t express how happy I am. My coworkers at work made me feel appreciated with a nice sendoff gift of a $100 giftcard to Borders and kickass cake. Even though I’ve coordinated send-off celebrations for other coworkers who have left over the years, I didn’t expect this. I was completely floored.

I even managed to get an apology from the CFO for all of the shit I’ve been put through over the last year. Part of me is sad to leave the people at work, but then I remember the hellish parts and smile.

Now I get to take time and plan my New Years party. But from what it sounds like no one is coming, so I’ll just buy a whole bunch of liquor for myself and invite a couple of people. I would have loved to get dressed up, but I guess I’ll have to save that for another day. *sighs*

I’m trying to make plans for next week. I know I need to do something so that my body doesn’t have a chance to relax too much. If it does I will get sick with the flu or something.

I’ve been really unmotivated today. It probably has to do with a couple of my coworkers getting me drunk after work yesterday. I guess I’m a little popular at work. I don’t know how since I cuss people out, throw paper clips at their eyeballs and generally be an asshole.

This reminds me: I decided to reschedule my last day of work to this week. See, my boss decided to fuck with me. Since I didn’t go in to work on Monday, he decides he wants to put me back to hourly to ensure the day off comes out of my vacation time. I work my ass off and hardly take a day off, and this is how I get treated? Fuck them. So instead of being nice and working through the end of the year (3 weeks), I have only 4 more days of work.

Party news: I have an idea of what I’m going to serve. So yeah.

As if I didn’t say it enough already, FUCK THE DODGERS.

General Manager Paul DisPossessed-ta and Owner Frank McBankrupt decided not to sign Adrian Beltre and let him go to the Seattle Mariners for a 5 year deal worth $65 million. This is the same guy who hit a league high 48 home runs last year. To boot he had 121 RBIs and a .331 batting average. Oh! Don’t let me forget that he came in second in NL MVP voting to Barry Bonds.

Let’s not mention the fact that the Dodgers also didn’t get Tim Hudson who could have vastly improved the pitching situation.

Intellectually, I shouldn’t be surprised since the Dodgers are known for making stupid moves. I remember Mike Piazza. I remember Darren Dreifort. But it still feels like a punch in the guts. To have a great 2004 season where they won the NL West and got into the playoffs for the first time in about a decade… STUPID!!!!!!

Ok. That’s enough sports talk for a day (especially a sport that’s in the off-season).

Edit: And it just got worse. After posting this, I felt a little better about the situation because I knew we had a couple of good hitters. Ok. Maybe one.

But let’s make that in the past tense now. It looks like Shawn Green, Yhencey Brazoban and Brad Penny are going to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Javier Vasquez and two minor league prospects from the Yanks. Let me just say that if the Dodgers don’t sign at least one of the big free agent left on the market… Well fuck em.

That’s it really. It was a pretty shitty year in music if you ask me. Well. The ones that were good were extremely good. But with PJ Harvey, Bjork and Sonic Youth coming out with pretty mediocre albums, 2004 will remain in my mind as a bad year in music.

I’m just wondering if anyone has something else to jog my memory. ?

Before Roomie left to go scampering about in foreign lands, she let me use her laptop. At first I was hesitant to take it out. I’ve been using a desktop for so long, what use do I have for it?

Well I crossed that threshold this past weekend, and now I’m completely addicted. Like cats waiting to be fed, I clamor at every chance I get to use it. I search long and far to find places that have free WiFi. As I’m typing this, I’m at my old coffee joint which just installed free WiFi. I can’t stop this!!!!

The upsetting part is that once Roomie comes back in several weeks, I won’t have this luxury. This can mean only one thing: MUST GET LAPTOP. I know. I tend to be slow when it comes to techie things, but once I get into it I delve head first into a pool of shallow water.

On another note, I’m getting used to messing around with php scripting, so my actual webpage is coming along nicely. Perhaps at some point I will discontinue my LJ. Thank heavens for RSS feeds.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Joy Division and Unwound lately. There’s something about those two bands that keep me coming for more even though there really isn’t any more. Well I just picked up Les Bain Douches which is a great quality recording of a Joy Division concert in Paris. Though short, you can hear the emotions bursting at the seams. Like an indelible piece of art, I am content to enjoy it at arm’s length.

But Unwound makes me want to jump up and down and get dirty. Lately it’s been Repetition that’s been filling my ears. Although it would make a great soundtrack for a David Lynch film, the sounds are less atmospheric and more energetic. It’s definitely not punk, but aren’t we a little too old for punk now?
