The first Sunday of the NFL season left me feeling really torn. I really wanted to go to the gym sometime before noon, but the games were compelling me to stay put. I didn’t go until around 5. I ended up killing myself there. Afterwards, I paid for my membership since I really like the gym. Since I had a special, $19.99 for the first three months, $59.99 every month after with all activation and set up fees waived. Killer. feralboy and I then went for dinner in Chinatown. It’s been months and months since I’ve seen that bastard so it was nice to catch up with him.

I woke up with very little motivation. I just watched some of the college ball games with half interest. Finally I call lotusblossom at around 3 and I meet her and evildork at Langer’s for some pastrami sandwiches. Yum yum yum. Then off to Target, Michaels and Best Buy in Burbank. At around 10 I called lotusblossom to get gelato. Then came home. Really a noneventful day, but at least I got out of the house.

Work has gotten really slow again. Roomie got home from her mini-getaway, so I shot the shit with her. But that’s about it. I really didn’t feel like doing much. Blah.

It’s the first day of the NFL season, so why was it I was more interested in the James Blake/Roger Federer tennis match than the first half of the game? When it looked like Federer had control of the match (6-0 second set), I went to the football game while checking back in periodically to see if Blake would magically get back into the match. He did win the third set 7-6(11-9) but lost the match in the fourth set. It was very good tennis though. When I got back to the football game, Pittsburgh just scored an 80-plus yard touchdown. And I chose Miami to win. Nuts.

Since angiewarhol couldn’t make it to movie night last night, evildork, lotusblossom and I were sort of at a loss of what to do. We first went to Pazzo Gelato in Silverlake since lotusblossom was dying for gelato. Then somehow we ended up going to C & O Trattoria in Venice. The food was all right, but I remembered it being much better. *shrugs* Then it was back home for Project Runway in one of the most satisfying eliminations I’ve ever seen.

I tried out the Downtown Gold’s Gym and really liked it. The people who go there are no-nonsense, there was plenty of room to be able to go into your own zone and there wasn’t any crappy top 40 bullshit music playing. Roomie and her boyfriend are vacationing up the coast, so you know what that means: ORGY!

After having an utterly useless and stationary Sunday, I tried to motivate myself to go to the gym. I finally went at around 10:30 hoping it would be fairly desolate because of the holiday. Instead I was met with an hour line for the elliptical machines at the 24 Hour Fitness @ the Arclight. One fucking hour to get on one of 20 machines! The treadmills had an equally dreadful line, and the weight room upstairs was too packed to really do anything. So I just came home and stewed for a little bit. lotusblossom dragged me to go gym shopping. We went to the Hollywood Y, Downtown Gold’s Gym, drove by Downtown Y (horrendous parking situation) and Glendale Y (closed). She liked the Hollywood Y, and we both absolutely loved the Gold’s Gym downtown. I think she’s going to go to the Hollywood Y, and I’ll be going to Gold’s Gym. My only dilemma is the cost. Is $60 per month ultimately worth it? I have a temporary free pass for a week, so I’ll decide sometime this week.

I did absolutely nothing productive except to meet lotusblossom, her brother, angiewarhol and her boytoy for dinner at Damon’s. I was still feeling a little miffed that Norman had blown me off again. But I guess when you’re important there are priorities, right?

I went and did some errands earlier in the day. I came home to watch some college football and got ready for the Dodger game. Since I prefer sitting behind home plate, I was a little hesitant about these third baseline seats. I was completely wrong. lotusblossom, her brother, evildork and I had a great view of the game. It was especially sweeter since we had free parking in a reserved lot and we spanked the Rockies 14-5.

The best thing about three-day weekends are the fact that we get to leave early from work. It was actually a pretty shitty day at work. The only thing that saved the day was scoring field box tickets to Saturday’s Dodger game. One of our legal consultants gave our CFO four tickets to the game and he in turn gave them to me. So we’ll be sitting on the third baseline really close to the field. Awesome. I came home and lolled about until it was time to go to the game. Yes, I’m going to two Dodger games on consecutive days. lotusblossom came over around 5, and we went to Souplantation. Came back, got to the game and had fun. It was fireworks night, and the display is so much better at the stadium than it is by my house.
