Why Is Violence Not the Answer?
I was really happy to see vanillaspice and stacichikami on Saturday. I miss them and all of the folks up in Santa Barbara. Maybe we should all get together once a year and just party like it’s going out of style. That would be fun.
With my Year of the Cock party on Saturday and the Superbowl yesterday, I’m just beat. How I was able to stay until 8 at work tonight, I don’t know. Actually I looked and felt like a train wreck this morning. I could barely mumble the words, “Need coffee,” much to the delight of my employees. By about lunchtime I was conscious enough and was able to close January’s books.
Oh, and I had to deal with an employee issue. The executive assistant and my employee were at odds. While I was out to lunch, EA threw a FedEx box at my employee’s desk and rudely told her to create an airbill. When I found out about it, I was livid. I have sent out emails to everyone in the company that whatever work is delegated to my employees can only come from me. How can I manage my department when “outsiders” pull my employees in all different directions? Oh no.
So I had to go up the chain and have the CFO deal with the problem. Sometimes I feel like a fucking babysitter. At my last job my two employees would argue with each other. They would come to me to resolve their petty issues. I just told them to grow the fuck up. I mean they were old enough to be my father. That would always shut them up.
Since I am almost always the youngest person at work, it pisses me off when people just can’t handle their shit. Here I am at 25 in a management position with a significant say on what goes on in the company money-wise, and I have to deal with shit a junior high teacher would have to deal with. I would rather deal with a tough accounting issue than looking after grown adults.
But I have to say that my three employees kick ass. I’m always protective over my employees, and I want them to work in a fun environment. My hos (as I have affectionately dubbed them) are the best! I can’t believe what a great turnaround we made to our department. In the space of a month we’ve gone from having everyone complaining about us to everyone worshipping us. That’s why I’m taking them out to lunch tomorrow. They make my job easy. 🙂
Ok enough gushing. I want to go shopping now.
