Day Hike
What a fun day! Deciding not to coop myself up to watch football games, I went with lotusblossom and saltyseas to the Hollywood Farmers Market and a little stroll through Griffith Park. I learned about this particular trail via this post on blogging.la. The pictures on it were so gorgeous I promised myself that after the rains fell, I would definitely go on that trail.
It’s only about a two mile hike up into the hills that culminates right beneath the Griffith Observatory. Well it culminates for now since they’re doing renovations on it until 2007 (I believe).
Of course I took pictures.

On the Ferndell entrance of Griffith Park, there is this nice grotto that introduces visitors to the trail.

However after we parked the car, this dead opposum was the first sight we saw. Someone had the decency to cover the thing. Ssssh! It’s sleeping!

In the grotto, there’s this sarcophagus-looking thing. Of course it was appropriate to have saltyseas to look dead in it.

After the grotto, there’s a bunch of picnic tables. Then the trail. Of course we took the trail. Here’s a view of the Griffith Observatory still being renovated. I guess it’s supposed to open back up in 2007?

Here are some great views of Los Angeles looking south. It was such a beautiful day. Many times lotusblossom and I commented on how relatively clear today was.

Naturally the Hollywood sign is part of the Griffith Park area. And since it’s LA, it’s almost obligatory to have this pic.

saltyseas was suffering from low blood sugar. Once we got as far as we could go on the trail, he needed some rest.

After we headed back down, I took this lovely shot of the two. Oh!
And for no good reason… my cats!!!!!

Kiko showing everyone why she’s such a crackwhore.

Some experimentation last night while Whitman was sleeping on my tummy.
Today’s hike made me realize I need to do this shit more often. Especially since I live right across the street from one of the entrances to Griffith Park.
