Turkey Day Hijinks.
It’s been really busy this week. Yet again I coordinated the Thanksgiving Potluck here at work. I did not want to do it this year because of the turkey fiasco last year. Long story short, a certain place lost the turkey order and I had to go scrambling around for a turkey at the last minute. Not fun whatsoever.
I did have someone help me out this year. Actually she was supposed to do the coordinating, and I was only going to help out and advise. Once we picked up the turkeys and ham from the Honeybaked Ham Store @ 9am, I guess it all fell onto me since she has no cooking experience whatsoever.
As the turkeys are warming up in the oven, I checked on them after 30 minutes. I go in to a very weird smell. I open the oven door and a plume of smoke escapes. Thinking the turkeys are burnt (how the fuck do you do that anyhow), I realize there were holes in the roasting pan. The juices dripped down onto the burner and got burnt. Fuckers!!!!
At this point, I’m thinking the turkeys are going to be a disaster. They were going to be undercooked, dry and just miserable. Fortunately I know how to cook somewhat, so I improvise a little and get the turkeys done. It took a little longer, but once they came out they were juicy and cooked.
Other than the turkey, the potluck was a success. Perhaps I really should get a job as a party coordinator or something. It seems like I’ve been doing that quite a bit lately.
I hope all of you have a good turkey day. I’ll be spending the night at the mom’s tonight to help her prepare the food.
Oh. Does anyone want to go see Skinny Puppy on Saturday???
