Post Election Blues

Roomie is suffering post-election blues. It’s understandable. The confusion over what to do next, what’s going to happen, etc. It’s all overwhelming. And especially now with the departure of many members of the cabinet, people are getting freaked out. So last night we were just talking about strategy. I think we should basically copy what the Republicans did in the 90s. Start out on radio. Now many of you will automatically think about Air America. No. People in Topeka, Kansas do not give a shit what Al Franken or Janeane Garofolo has to say. Hell. I don’t give a shit about what they have to say. We have to get someone obscure with no name recognition and use that person to start attacking the right. Look at Rush Limbaugh. Before the Clinton administration, who the fuck was he? Just some no-name sportscaster in St. Louis. But somehow his lies and accusations propelled him to the top, and he is the reason for the Right’s resurgency in 94. Also we need someone who is good looking and charismatic. It is proven that intelligence helps but is not a necessity in presidential campaigns. Look at Bush Jr. and Reagan. Although Clinton is smart, he has the charisma that attracts middle America. Kerry had none of that. He looked stodgy, used big words and came off more boring than a brick. We need a candidate whom women (and gay men!) want to sleep with and men want to emulate. Anyhow, after our little talk last night I hope Roomie is feeling better. She seemed more upbeat by the end of the conversation.
