I got in to find this email from our CFO:

Subject: FW: PO with Purchase Account 64999 If your name is listed in the attached file you have created a PO and charged 64999-Unidentified Purchase. Effective immediately this account is not to be used if you don’t know where to charge something please contact James for a list of account numbers. Then if your still not sure contact Mike Tutko. Any questions contact me directly. We will be monitoring this account.

In the span of 30 minutes, I’ve had six calls from people freaking out. I’ve had to explain to them the basic fundamentals of purchasing and how it relates to accounting. I then had to tell them the background to this problem and what they should do to solve it. This is turning out to be a lovely Wednesday. If anyone happens to see my dead carcass hanging, can you please be a dear and clean the poo? Nothing is more tasteless than a dead guy who has poo in his pants. Thanks!
