El Elefante Es Muy Grande

I just saw Gus van Sant’s movie Elephant. It’s a thinly veiled recreation of the Columbine School shootings. Basically we’re let in on the lives of several kids hours before the shooting. For about 3/4 of the movie, we’re following all of these kids around until finally the inevitable shooting occurs and death and blood ensue. Although it is an interesting movie to look at, it is wholly ineffective. You don’t feel any empathy for anyone. I don’t know. It’s just…. The LA Weekly review is a better criticism of it. Other than that, I ordered my contacts today. So on Tuesday, I will be back in the world of two-eyes. Ha!
